Frances Evelyn Dobbs, 1877-1964
143 years ago on this day, Frances Evelyn Dobbs, daughter of James Renrick Dobbs and Mary Frances Pressly was born in Indianola, Iowa, USA. She is the mother in the image above pictured with her husband Frederick John King and her daughter Lila Fannie King. They married in 1893 when Frances was just 16 years old. I can’t imagine for one moment when I recall my 16 year old self being married at that age. Her husband Fred was 18 years of age and they remained faithful to each other all their lives which ended in 1953 for Fred and 1964 for Frances. Lila was their firstborn and they also had a son named Lloyd. Frances was a housewife and kept the marital home together whist her husband I assume was a Butcher after piecing together all the job descriptions from various records that state he was a Farmer, a Retail Merchant of Groceries and another record that said he dealt in meats and owned his own shop. Frances died on 1 Jan 1964 in Sloan, Woodbury, Iowa, USA and was buried in Whiting Cemetery, Monona, Iowa, USA.

Frances was my 3rd cousin 3 times removed through her marriage to Fred with his Great Great Grandfather John Brumby (1750-1816) being my 5th Great Grandfather on my mother’s side. The image of Fred, Frances and Lila was originally shared to Ancestry Family Trees from Jamieson Earleywine whom I believe is Great Great Grandson to Lila and therefore my 6th cousin twice removed. It is a beautiful image originally shared in black and white but has been enhanced with the addition of colour.
