James Fallows Edwards, 1928- 1999
On this day in 1928 my 2nd cousin once removed was born in Oldham, Lancashire, England. Named James Fallows Edwards after his father but known as Jimmy and the middle child of seven born to the family. These fantastic images of him and his family came to me courtesy of Dave Edwards, son of James’s brother Frank and my third cousin. The images were originally black and white but have been colourised because I love what that process does to them.. After marrying his beautiful bride Dorothy Blades in 1951 he relocates to Warwickshire for a time before moving back North to Rotherham where he lives out the rest of his life until passing away in 1999 aged 71. The football image is of Hollinwood Football Club in or about 1950, a team which James played for along with his 3 surviving brothers and they are all pictured on the front row in the image. A further image shows Jimmy as a young boy with his parents and siblings (2 children died in infancy and so are not included in the image). His Great Grandfather was my Great Great Grandfather Edward Edwards.
